Fix Windows 8.1 Hang And Freeze Issue

Introduction

It’s been around 2 months I’m using Windows 8.1, no doubt it provides you great features and security but the most irritating thing I came across in this is, it hangs/freeze in between and require 4-5 times of reboot and sometimes force reboot resulting in increasing the probability of crashing hard drive.

Most interesting thing is, till date there is no official patch or fix available from Windows.

You can do two things to avoid this:

First if you haven’t installed Windows 8.1, then don’t install until and unless there is some patch or fix provided by Microsoft.

Second, if you are already using Windows 8.1 and facing this issues and don’t want to downgrade the windows to older version then you can perform following temporary fix, which I did.

Note: I’m not sure until when this fix will work.

All you need to do is change you power options.

1. Go to Control Panel.
2. Appear and Personalisation.
3. Change screen saver under Personalisation tab.
4. Change power settings.
5. Select High Performance Plan and save changes, and you are done.
